Platinum- or peroxide-cured silicone

BIW offers silicone products with a choice of platinum or peroxide curing – for maximum flexibility in terms of hygiene requirements, thermal resistance and technical processing.

  • Available as platinum or peroxide curing
  • Platinum-cured: residue-free, ideal for hygiene applications
  • Peroxide cross-linked: economical, mechanically robust
Two cross-linking options - one material
BIW processes both platinum- and peroxide-cured silicone - depending on hygiene, residue or price requirements.
Platinum crosslinking for maximum purity
Ideal for the medical, food and pharmaceutical sectors - no fission products, very good transparency, physiologically harmless.
Peroxide crosslinking for robust applications
Mechanically more resilient, economically attractive, easy to rework - e.g. for industry, automotive, construction.
Thermally resilient
Both variants are cold-flexible down to -60 °C and heat-stable up to +250 °C - with excellent dimensional stability.
Resistant to chemicals and weathering
High resistance to many media, UV radiation and ozone - also suitable for outdoor use.
Can be combined with other properties
Both types of crosslinking can be combined with functions such as colour, flame retardancy, conductivity or surface finishing.

Product description

Silicone products from BIW are available in two proven curing variants: peroxide-cured for particularly economical, robust applications – and platinum-cured for the highest purity requirements, e.g. in medical technology or drinking water applications.

Peroxide-cured silicones offer very good mechanical properties, high heat resistance and a wide range of applications in industrial environments. They are robust, easy to process and can be produced in many colours.

Platinum-cured silicones, on the other hand, are characterised by their physiological harmlessness, absence of residues and excellent transparency – ideal for sensitive applications where no outgassing or residues are permitted.

Both variants can be extruded or injection moulded as a tube, profile, cord or moulded part – individually tailored to the application.
